Menlo Park Residence in CH+D Magazine

The Menlo Park Residence was just published in this month's issue of California Home + Design. The house, by Dumican Mosey Architects, looks as good in person as it does through the lens of our photographer-friend Mariko Reed in the pages of CH+D.

The article, called "Fuzzy Logic",  contains a certain line that makes us feel a bit warm and fuzzy ourselves (see above).  We're posting it here at the behest of several folks who've suggested that we ought to "frame it", "bronze it" or otherwise document it for posterity.

We sat down with our project manager, Peter Kellner, to ask him if there was anything special about how we managed this particular job that might be worth sharing:

"I think we can take credit for about 50% of the success of the schedule - the other 50% of the credit goes to architect Matthew Mosey. Like any other project, the final details changed from the construction set. The difference with our process with Matthew was that I could give him a drop-dead date for the drawing or spec, and he nailed it every time. Both the architect and the client were really part of our team on this one - it sounds cliche, but everybody was really working toward the same goal.

From our standpoint, we were very proactive about managing our subs. For example, our initial schedule showed sheetrock starting at the completion of framing & MEP rough, but in this case it was a big house - we started the sheetrock crew at one end of the house while we were still finishing up the other end. That kind of approach throughout the course of the project really paid off at the end."
