Overview

Overview

Matarozzi/Pelsinger Builders has a significant background in sustainable building practices. Dan Pelsinger's involvement with Semmes Co. and the California Straw Bale Association early in his career sparked an interest in Green building practices. MPB is committed to increasing customer awareness and incorporating the ethics of sustainable building in our business practices as well as our building.

As part of our standard operating procedure we:

  • Hire demolition companies that provide recycling and salvaging receipts for at least 75% of waste
  • Use engineered lumber where possible
  • Source as much FSC certified wood as possible
  • Work to influence San Francisco lumber suppliers to carry more FSC material in their warehouses
  • Recycle miscellaneous job site construction material and waste
  • Support Green education initiatives for our employees
  • Promote Green products alternatives (adhesives, sealers, insulation, etc.)
  • Educate our project teams about sustainable technologies and products and techniques.
  • Ask all project managers to use our company Natural Gas Vehicles for jobsite visits.

Our most environmentally sensitive project to date is our new office building located in the SoMa district of San Francisco. Some of the other projects that utilized sustainable building practices include: the Flora Grubb project, our offices at 1060 Capp Street; an exhibition for the Green Festival; the Scraphouse project; and the Lake Street Corridor project.
